The area is recognised for its early 20th-century architecture such as Hongjialou Cathedral, the Shandong Provincial Library, and the Shandong University campus.

The hotel is scheduled to open in 2029 and will occupy an area of approximately 35,000m².

Plans indicate the property will feature 286 guest rooms and suites. Its design will reference The Langham’s historical brand heritage and incorporate details inspired by Jinan’s notable springs.

Facilities proposed for the hotel include several dining outlets, among them a branch of T’ang Court, LHG’s three-Michelin-star restaurant.

Additional offerings will include a destination bar, meeting and events spaces, and wellness amenities under the Chuan Spa brand.

LHG CEO Bob van den Oord said: “We are grateful for our partnership with Jinan Licheng District Quanfuhe Investment Development Co and look forward to bringing The Langham Hotels and Resorts (The Langham) to Jinan, an increasingly important city that serves as the ideal starting point for our entry into Shandong Province.”

Great Eagle Holdings subsidiary LHG operates a portfolio of hotels and residences under brands such as The Langham, Eaton Workshop, Cordis, and Ying’nFlo.

The group has more than 40 properties either in operation or development across Asia, Europe, Australasia, North America, and the Middle East.

Jinan Licheng District Quanfuhe Investment Development Co executive deputy general manager Chen Wenping said: “Drawing on the strengths of Honglou district’s heritage, commercial vitality and natural beauty, The Langham, Jinan will cater to both leisure and business travellers while enhancing the profile of Licheng District and Jinan as a whole.”
