The Lisbon City Council has approved plans to build a hotel in the Villa Helena property in Arroios parish and a hotel-apartment complex in Alcântara, Lisbon.

The Villa Helena project encompasses licensing work for a 5-star hotel with 60 guest rooms and proposals for the expansion project of the building.

Additionally, the council has granted permission for the development of a building in Beato parish consisting of two sections with a total implementation area of 4.2km², intended for housing, business and tourism and with 131 planned parking spots.

The plan’s document stated: “The proposal envisions the total demolition of the pre-existing building and the construction of a new one presenting three facades, two overlooking streets and the other a pedestrian square.

“This building is destined for tourism, being purposed as an aparthotel, a complex that presents both a hotel and apartments. The establishment will offer 53 T0 rooms, 8 T1 apartments and a T2.”

The project has been granted approval on several criteria, including the approval of the General Director of Cultural Heritage over archaeological concerns.
