The property houses six dining venues, a spa, a tennis court and “yoga sessions”. Mandarin Oriental said guests also have access to a golf course and “cycling routes across the island”.

The company added that arrivals are possible via an exclusive private yacht transfer service.

In a statement, Mandarin Oriental said: “Originally home to the historic Hotel Punta Negra, the site is framed by Aleppo pine trees, secluded coves and sweeping Mediterranean views.

“Preserving the spirit of its past while embracing a contemporary vision, the resort blends contemporary design, Mediterranean spirit, and the island’s natural beauty and heritage in harmony.”

A part of the Jardine Matheson Group, Mandarin Oriental operates 46 hotels, 15 residences and 39 homes in 29 countries and territories, with further projects under development.

The company’s other two properties in Spain are Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, and Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid.

Last November, Mandarin Oriental announced a new hotel in the Jeddah Central development in Saudi Arabia, with the opening targeted for 2030.

The project is being developed with Jeddah Central Development Company and design business KPF.
