Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced plans to manage a new luxury hotel in Suzhou, China, once it opens in 2026.
The upcoming Mandarin Oriental, Suzhou will be situated on the east bank of Jinji Lake, offering guests picturesque views of the lake and the city’s architectural skyline.
The hotel is situated within the new central business district and will also provide direct access to the commercial and retail centre.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group chief executive Laurent Kleitman said: “We are delighted to be extending the group’s presence in mainland China and to be part of this exciting development in the heart of the city’s new central business district. Alongside our existing property in Shanghai, and our upcoming openings in Hangzhou and Nanjing, Mandarin Oriental, Suzhou will further introduce our fans to exceptional experiences throughout the Yangtze River Delta.
“We look forward to working with our partners to create an inviting haven, where guests can experience the charm of this historic destination while enjoying the renowned quality of Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service.”
The hotel will feature 146 guest rooms and suites, many with balconies overlooking the lake.
Dining options will include three restaurants, a lounge, a bar, and a cake shop, with outdoor dining settings leveraging the scenic lakeside location.
The property will also house spa and wellness facilities, including Mandarin Oriental’s signature spa therapies, a fitness centre, and an indoor swimming pool.
The hotel’s ample meeting and event space will cater to both business functions and social events.
The development is a collaboration between Suzhou Harmony Development Group, part of Sungent Holdings Group – the region’s largest state-owned Enterprise – and Hongkong Land from Jardine Matheson Group.
Architectural company ZNA is responsible for the design of this hotel.
Hongkong Land chief executive Michael Smith said: “We are excited to partner with Suzhou Harmony Development Group and are confident that Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s global reputation for excellence will ensure that, together, we create a truly unique and dynamic destination in the heart of Suzhou Industrial Park, bringing a new level of vibrancy to the community.
“We are committed to developing an ultra-luxury property that aligns with the sustainability goals of both companies.”
