Marriott International has opened the first City Express property in Duluth, Georgia, marking its foray into the midscale segment in the US and Canada.
The City Express by Marriott Duluth caters to both business and leisure travellers, as well as offers a conversion-friendly model for hotel owners.
It boasts 83 guest rooms, pet-friendly policies, a 24-hour market, and on-site fitness facilities.
Marriott International US and Canada global development officer Noah Silverman said: “The value proposition that this conversion-friendly, transient midscale brand brings both to owners and guests has turned City Express by Marriott into a powerhouse in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region, and we are thrilled to deliver this same combination of value to the US and Canada.”
Marriott is poised to rapidly expand the City Express by Marriott brand in the US and Canada, with plans to open over 45 properties by this year. This includes more than a dozen hotels set to open this year alone.
Notable upcoming locations include City Express by Marriott New Orleans Northeast and City Express by Marriott Chicago Downtown, both anticipated in the second quarter of 2025. Additional sites comprise City Express by Marriott Orlando International Drive and City Express by Marriott Port Hope in Ontario, Canada.

“Whether for business or leisure, guests at City Express by Marriott in the US and Canada will now experience the same seamless, efficient stay that has made the brand a success in the CALA region.”
Since the purchase of the City Express brand portfolio in 2023, Marriott has been focused on growing its presence in the midscale sector.
The company now offers three midscale brands, which include City Express by Marriott in the US, Canada, and the CALA region; Four Points Flex by Sheraton in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific (excluding China): and the soon-to-debut extended stay brand, StudioRes, in the US and Canada.
The brand is also growing in the CALA region, with plans to launch eight new properties in Bolivia, Argentina, Nicaragua and Peru over the next three years.
In August 2023, Marriott International integrated City Express by Marriott Hotels into its travel programme, Marriott Bonvoy.
