US-based hospitality company Marriott International has expanded its footprint in South Africa with two new openings – Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch and Marriott Executive Apartments Johannesburg Melrose Arch.
The opening of Marriott Executive Apartments in South Africa marks the first purpose-built Marriott Hotel in the country.
Marriott International Middle East and Africa Premium & Select Brands vice-president Sandra Schulze–Potgieter said: “We are thrilled to open Johannesburg Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch and Marriott Executive Apartments Johannesburg Melrose Arch, further strengthening our relationship with the Amdec Group in South Africa.
“The openings are part of Marriott International’s commitment to expand our footprint in Africa and deepen our brand portfolio in South Africa.
“The property is a strong representation of two brands which will deliver tailored services, sophisticated spaces and enriching experiences.”
Featuring 306 guest rooms, including ten junior suites, Johannesburg Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch is said to be the first Marriott Hotel in the country presenting the brand’s new design touchpoints.

Other facilities at the hotel include a 24-hour fitness centre, outdoor heated swimming pool and pool bar.
On the other hand, Marriott Executive Apartments Johannesburg Melrose Arch features 84 apartments for travellers seeking a trusted, longer stay.
Currently, Marriott International operates 61 hotels in South Africa.
The hotel and apartments are owned and developed by the Amdec Group.
