Marriott International has partnered with resorts owner and operator Playa Hotels & Resorts to open The Luxury Collection branded resort in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic.

The new Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive resort is slated to open in summer 2022.

The adults-only resort, which underwent a renovation in 2019, boasts 325 rooms and five a la carte restaurants, six bars and five pools.

It will also feature its own nightlife destination, Sanctuary Town.

Marriott International Caribbean and Latin America chief development officer Laurent de Kousemaeker said: “We are thrilled to bring our first The Luxury Collection all-inclusive brand extension to the Dominican Republic and we are grateful to the Martínez family for developing such a unique resort.

“We are also excited for the opportunity to work with Playa Hotels & Resorts, a very reputable all-inclusive operator.”

Sanctuary Cap Cana is owned by Francisco Martínez and will become the first Playa managed resort under a Marriott International brand.

Playa Hotels & Resorts executive vice-president and chief investment officer Fernando Mulet said: “In our first joint venture with Marriott International, Sanctuary Cap Cana is the perfect choice for the level of style and sophistication that has made Marriott’s The Luxury Collection resorts the standard-bearer for unique, one-of-a-kind vacations.”

The Luxury Collection by Marriott has 123 hotels in 41 countries and territories.

In February this year, The Luxury Collection opened The Ocean Club, its first property in the Dominican Republic’s northern coast.
