Hotel management company Newport Hospitality Group has acquired the Best Western Williamsburg Historic District, adding the property to its portfolio of managed hotels.

The property, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, US, houses 140 rooms.

It also features a full-service Mexican restaurant, 3,860ft² of meeting space, a fitness centre and a pool with a retractable roof. The hotel has pet-friendly options.

Best Western Williamsburg Historic District offers easy access to the region’s major attractions with Colonial Williamsburg located half a mile from the property and the Busch Gardens being 3.5 miles away.

Newport vice president and chief development officer Shawn Wallick said: “The hotel at 351 York Street has been a cherished part of the community since 1975. We are excited to build on its legacy in partnership with Jay and Dharti Patel.”

The company said that it has plans for a minor property improvement.

Newport Hospitality Group regional sales director Brittany Alger said: “Our strategy involves further development of the leisure, tour group, and social events market while solidifying our partnership with the local community.”

In February this year, Newport completed renovations at Hampton Inn & Suites Jackson.

This project offered a reimagined lobby comprising fresh seating areas and a contemporary design along with an enhanced breakfast space.

The property’s guestrooms now incorporate new bedroom furniture and work desks as well as modern bathroom fixtures. The business and fitness centres at the hotel also received an upgrade.
