InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a new-build Crowne Plaza hotel in Medellin, Colombia.
The Crowne Plaza will be IHG’s third property in Medellin and joins the InterContinental Medellin and the Holiday Inn Express Medellin.
The 199-room hotel will be situated in Medellin’s upscale El Poblado neighbourhood and will occupy one of two towers in the Palmanova mixed-use development.
The hotel will feature a ground floor restaurant and lobby bar, a 4,500ft² ballroom and around 1,000ft² of meeting space, as well as amenities like the fitness centre and business centre.
IHG chief development officer at the Americas Joel Eisemann said: "Colombia is an important market for IHG in Latin America.
"This is the fifth project we have signed with Grupo Contempo, and we are looking forward to continuing to grow with them.
