Private equity firm Rockbridge has unveiled plans to construct a new boutique hotel in Savannah, Georgia, US.

Featuring 173 rooms, the new property will be situated in Savannah’s Historic District on River Street.

Expected to be operational in late-2016, the new hotel will include a ground-floor restaurant and retail, 4,000ft² of meeting space, first-class pool, rooftop bar and on-site parking.

With 82 double king rooms, 66 kings and 25 suites, the company is planning an all-king concept for the property.

"Our development focus is on creating that end-user experience by providing distinctive food experiences, social interactivity and desirable design."

According to Rockbridge, the property is being developed on the site of the oldest bottleworks factory in America, and will integrate historic bricks and bottles from the site in the development.

Rockbridge president and CEO Jim Merkel said: "Our development focus is on creating that end-user experience by providing distinctive food experiences, social interactivity and desirable design.

"The traveller experience combined with the charismatic function and décor will make this property unmatched in the market."

Rockbridge is also negotiating with city leaders to design and build the first public and ADA-accessible pedestrian stairway and elevator to the river adjacent to the property.

Merkel further added: "Our goal is to make this Savannah hotel an attraction in itself within the Historic District."

Rockbridge has invested in around 330 hotels in 44 states, which could value about $5bn over the past 20 years.
