Jakarta-based online travel agency NusaTrip has announced the acquisition of VLeisure, a Vietnam-based online B2B hotel platform.

The move expands Society Pass’ (SoPa) travel vertical NusaTrip’s footprint outside of Indonesia for the first time.

As part of the acquisition, VLeisure plans to market its hotel management SaaS products to small-to-medium size hotels initially in Vietnam and then to the rest of Southeast Asia by leveraging SoPa’s capital and NusaTrip’s technology.

In addition, NusaTrip will have an operational foundation in Vietnam that will allow it to significantly grow both its B2C and B2B operations in the region.

VLeisure founder and managing director Phan Le said: “With SoPa’s rapid growth in 2021 and 2022 and NusaTrip’s position as a leading IATA-licensed travel platform in Indonesia, VLeisure now is able to access our parent companies’ infrastructure of capital, technology, marketing and customer support, allowing VLeisure to better serve our Vietnam-based customers and accelerate growth in our hotel business.

“VLeisure’s trip planning, booking capabilities and hotel technology expertise complement Nusatrip’s existing travel services to deliver a more personalised user experience”.

As Southeast Asia’s travel market recovers from Covid-19, the acquisition comes as a gainful move for NusaTrip, the press statement said.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates nearly 110 million visitors worth $27bn will arrive in Vietnam in 2023, making up 5.7% of the country’s projected GDP of $469bn.

Furthermore, NusaTrip will continue to acquire online and offline travel agencies in Southeast Asia as it builds a regional travel platform to leverage the booming Southeast Asian travel market.
