The site is located near Takayama Station, placing it within reach of the city’s main thoroughfare, heritage locations and local eateries.

Courtyard by Marriott Hida Takayama is expected to feature 207 rooms and suites, with plans to include adaptable communal areas intended for working and resting.

The hotel is also expected to offer an all-day restaurant with semi-open kitchens preparing both Japanese and international dishes.

Pacifica Hotels GK CEO Seth Sulkin said: “Takayama is one of my personal favourite tourist destinations in Japan.

“It has the best collection of Edo period structures anywhere I have seen in Japan, wonderful food and is a great base for numerous day trips such as Shirakawa-go and Kamikochi.”

Pacifica manages multiple properties under franchise agreements with Marriott International and IHG.

The company’s operating portfolio includes brands such as City Express by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield by Marriott, Garner by IHG, Holiday Inn & Suites, and Moxy.

Last month, Pacifica Hotels and its subsidiary, Furano Hospitality, signed a franchise agreement with Marriott International to develop Westin Hokkaido Furano Resort in Japan.

Scheduled to open in mid-2029, the property will be the first Westin Resort location in Japan.
