The Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) luxury floating hotel in Dubai has been temporarily closed and will begin operations after 15 August, according to the National.

The luxury floating hotel ceased operations because of a power outage due to thunderstorms that struck the city earlier this month.

Measures have been taken to contact guests who had reservations during this period, while those seeking accommodations at the luxury hotel received a message about the situation, which read: “We regret to inform you that the entire hotel has temporarily closed during this period from Sunday, August 06, 2023, to Tuesday, 15 August 2023.

“Unfortunately, an unexpected weather event last August 05 has led to an unprecedented power cut to the entire hotel. Our team is actively working to resolve this situation as soon as possible; however, we are unable to indicate when our systems will be fully operational again. As a result, all hotel facilities, including accommodations, restaurants and activities will be closed during this period.”

Guests have also been offered alternative accommodation solutions or complete refunds.

Once a well-known luxury ocean liner, QE2 completed more than 1,400 voyages in its almost 40 years of service since it was launched in 1967.
