Global hospitality company S Hotels and Resorts has unveiled plans to open its third resort at CROSSROADS Maldives in November this year.

The launch of the five-star property, SO/ Maldives, will mark the completion of Phase One at CROSSROADS Maldives, which is an integrated leisure destination that includes nine idyllic islands in the Indian Ocean.

This $60m joint venture project is owned by S Hotels & Resorts and is being constructed in collaboration with Wai Eco World Developer, a business and real estate company.

Representing the first SO/ Hotels & Resorts brand in Maldives, the new resort will form part of the Ennismore Collection, which is a global collection of the company’s lifestyle brands.

The property will feature 80 beachfront and over-water pool villas, ranging from 120 to 330m² and each villa will have a private pool and deck.

S Hotels and Resorts said that, as part of a commitment to sustainable operations, every villa in the resort will have solar panels.

The company also noted that some of the Family Beach Pool Villa with Capsules will also have private capsules for children.

SO/ Maldives will also include three main dining outlets: Lazuli Beach Club, the Citronelle Club and a Middle Eastern restaurant named Hadaba.

It will also boast a gym and a spa with organic treatment rooms.

S Hotels & Resorts CEO Dirk De Cuyper said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of SO/ Maldives, which marks the completion of phase one at CROSSROADS Maldives.

“This milestone comes at the perfect time, as the hotel’s opening will enable us to capitalise on the continued surge in visitor arrivals to the Maldives, which have jumped 15% in 2023.

“We look forward to welcoming even more experience-seeking travellers to our three world-class Maldivian resorts in future.”

The company said that the SO/ Maldives will join the two existing resorts – Hard Rock Hotel Maldives and SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton, at CROSSROADS Maldives.
