Hotel operator Scandic is set to enter the Freiburg hospitality market through a partnership with pan-European real estate investment manager IREMIS.
Under the agreement, IREMIS has purchased the property from its existing owner, while Scandic has agreed to a long-term lease to operate the hotel.

The property will undergo a comprehensive renovation programme to align with brand standards ahead of an anticipated opening in “autumn 2027”.
Following the refurbishment, the hotel will offer 219 guest rooms based on the group’s design-focused Room Collection framework, alongside 480m² of adaptable conference space, food and beverage venues, and on-site vehicle parking.
Scandic Hotels Group chief development officer Jesper Engman said: “We are open for business with partners who share our ambition to develop strong hotel assets in attractive destinations.
“This project shows how Scandic’s operating platform, brand strength and sustainability focus can help reposition an existing hotel into a competitive, future-ready product.”
Situated in south-western Germany near the French and Swiss borders, the asset is located directly opposite Freiburg’s central railway station and adjacent to the Konzerthaus conference centre.
The property will target corporate, conference and leisure visitors.

In July, Scandic signed a lease agreement with German real estate investment manager Union Investment to open its third hotel in Frankfurt.
