The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has completed the expansions for two flagship projects under the Sharjah Collection brand in the UAE. 

The expansions at the projects, namely The Kingfisher Retreat and the Al Badayer Retreat, are designed to increase capacity, according to a press release posted on Zawya.  

Shurooq CEO Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer said: “We prioritise ecotourism as a cornerstone of our strategy to develop the tourism sector in Sharjah and enhance its reputation as a globally diverse and unique destination.  

“We meticulously monitor all our destinations to understand market needs and expectations, enabling us to continuously enhance our projects to the highest quality and sustainability standards.” 

The Kingfisher Retreat, a family resort located on an island off Sharjah’s east coast, has added 20 new accommodations to its existing 20. 

The expansion includes six one-bedroom, eight two-bedroom, five three-bedroom, and one four-bedroom tents.

The retreat now features a health club with professional trainers, children’s entertainment areas, and a conservation centre that supports local wildlife. 

It also provides a range of activities such as boat rides, kayaking, archery and nature walks.  

Other amenities provided at the property include a pool, bicycle rides, and bonfire relaxation under the stars.  

It also allows children to participate in the Great Kingfisher Treasure Hunt, while the Mangrove Center provides educational insights into the local ecosystem. 

Al Badayer Retreat situated in Sharjah’s central region has added 15 new tents, bringing the total to 25 luxury tents and 21 rooms.  

This expansion includes seven single tents, five two-bedroom tents, and three three-bedroom tents, all reflecting luxurious design and comfort.
