US-based hospitality company Sonder Sonder has unveiled plans to expand its footprint in Florida by launching four new properties across the state.

These four properties will bring the company’s footprint to 930 live units across hotel, resort and multi-unit serviced apartment properties in Florida.

They are expected to more than double the company’s live units across Florida and will join its existing eight properties.

Earlier this year, Sonder opened two new properties: the 76-key Found Miami Beach, located near the Miami Beach Convention Center and the 149-key Cirrus, located close to the Walt Disney Resort in Kissimmee.

The company intends to open more properties, including a 180-key resort hotel named the Deco. Designed by architect Henry Hohauser, the new resort hotel will be located near Ocean Drive and the Miami Beach Convention Center and it will span across four art deco buildings in Miami’s South Beach.

Another property that will join the company’s portfolio is Colonnade, which is a conversion of office space into 95 serviced apartments, situated on Brickell Avenue in Miami’s financial district.

Expected to open next year, the mid-century building was designed by architect Minoro Yamasaki and completed in the 1960s.

Sonder senior director of Real Estate Peter Debs said: “We’re seeking further expansion opportunities in Florida, including in Tampa, St Pete, Sarasota, Clearwater Beach, Naples, Jacksonville, the Florida Keys and the Palm Beaches.

“We’re particularly interested in existing hotel takeovers and large multifamily developments with construction already underway.

“We offer a variety of deal structures to meet the needs of both owners and lenders in the current economic climate.”

The company’s other properties in Florida include Riverwalk in Fort Lauderdale, 17WEST in South Beach and Vista Cay in Orlando.
