US-based hospitality company Viceroy Hotels and Resorts has announced the appointment of Yoav Gery as the company’s chief development officer.

Gery brings more than 25 years of expertise in the hospitality and coworking sectors to his position at Viceroy.

In his new role, Gery intends to expand the Viceroy brand through strategic development and conversion options such as hotels, hotels/residences and standalone residences.

Yoav Gery said: “I am grateful to be able to apply the experiences that I’ve gained throughout my career to the next evolution of the Viceroy brand.

“While there are a number of players in the luxury lifestyle space, there are none that combine the nimbleness and entrepreneurial spirit of a company like Viceroy with the scale, distribution and successful track record of an established hospitality company built on real estate ownership and asset value enhancement… until now.

“We look forward to announcing exciting additions to the portfolio that invoke the distinct quality and luxury service for which Viceroy has long been known.”

Earlier this year, the brand was purchased by an investor group led by the principals of Highgate.

The Highgate acquisition’s infrastructure and resources expect to strengthen Viceroy’s position as the brand to watch in the luxury lifestyle market.

Viceroy’s network of hotels and resorts has grown from its first location in Santa Monica, adding properties in destinations such as St. Lucia, Los Cabos, Chicago and Snowmass.

As part of its international portfolio, the brand will open Viceroy at Ombria Resort Algarve in Portugal this year and Viceroy Bocas Del Toro Panama in 2026.
