Virgin Group’s lifestyle hotel brand Virgin Hotels has revealed the opening date of its first European property in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The hotel will open its doors on 1 June this year and is already accepting reservations directly on its website.

Owned by Flemyn, the property is managed by Virgin Hotels. It is located in India Buildings in Edinburgh’s Old Town.

The hotel’s design is the result of a partnership between Virgin Hotels and Scottish design and architecture studios ICA Studio, Four-by-Two, and Joelle Reid Interiors.

Visto Artwork has curated the artworks across the property.

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh, which is a stone’s throw from Edinburgh Castle, provides 222 Chambers and Grand Chamber Suites spread across ten floors.

Each pet-friendly Chamber features Virgin Hotels’ signature layout with two spaces, The Dressing Room and The Lounge.

All Chambers and Suites are equipped with integrated technology capabilities to control lighting, thermostats, TVs, and more.

Other guest amenities offered by the hotel include several dining and drinking outlets, Commons Club, the brand’s flagship restaurant and bar, and an all-day dining space, Eve.

Virgin Hotels chief executive officer James Bermingham said: “Edinburgh is such an iconic city and we’re thrilled it will be the home of the first Virgin Hotels in the UK and across Europe.

“Through dynamic contextual design and neighbourhood-centric influences the new hotel will be a cultural city hub, with a design that sustains the building’s heritage while adding a vibrant, new style to the area.”

The new opening along with the second site in Glasgow, which will open later this spring, will expand the brand’s presence in the UK.

In late summer, Virgin Hotels will open its 38-floor newly built hotel in New York City.
