W Hotels Worldwide, a hotel chain owned by Marriott International, has unveiled its plans to open a new hotel W Osaka in Japan by 2021.
Owned by Japan’s house construction company Sekisui House, W Osaka will be the first hotel to be opened by W in Japan.
Featuring 337 guestrooms and suites, the 27-floor hotel will include restaurants and cocktail-centric bars.
W Hotels Worldwide global brand leader Anthony Ingham said: “In 2020, Japan will capture the global spotlight, welcoming nations from around the world to the country on a grand scale for the 2020 games. This is a great build-up to the launch of the first-ever W in Japan.
“W is always bringing its new/next vision and bold approach to new destinations, especially cities as vibrant and energetic as Osaka. We are confident W Osaka will add even more energy and excitement to this already action-packed year in Japan.”
With just an hour drive from Kansai International Airport, the new hotel is said to have been the strategic location to provide its guests with an easy access to the urban oasis and Osaka’s nightlife and entertainment district Dōtonbori.
Additional amenities at the new W Osaka hotel include a fitness centre, Spa, and meeting rooms.
Sekisui House chairman Isami Wada said: “We are excited to add yet another Marriott International property to our portfolio and even more thrilled to be introducing a brand as daring as W to the country.
“It will be an exciting year for Japan, and the W brand will surely offer limitless experiences to those visiting from all corners of the world.”
