Business property adviser Christie & Co is facilitating the sale of The Wensleydale Hotel, a four-star property in Yorkshire, UK.

The hotel, which overlooks Middleham's cobbled town square, is on the market with a freehold asking price of £800,000 ($1m).

The property boasts 17 en-suite bedrooms across the first and second floors and is of 18th-century origin.

Often referred to as The Newmarket of the North due to its proximity to 15 horse racing stables, Middleham is a historic destination.

The hotel benefits from the tourism drawn to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and a medieval castle that was once the residence of Richard III, as well as its proximity to attractions such as Forbidden Corner and Jervaulx Abbey.

The sale also encompasses an owners’/managers’ apartment, a commercial catering kitchen, and on-site parking.

The current owners purchased the property in 2019 when it was known as The White Swan. The hotel has since undergone refurbishment and remodelling.

Overseeing the transaction, Christie & Co's hospitality director Mark Worley said: “Our seller clients purchased the hotel in 2019, known then as The White Swan. They have invested heavily in the refurbishment and remodelling of the building’s interior and exterior, and they now offer for sale a lovely hotel with very good ratings and reviews.

“Unfortunately, a change in personal circumstances has made it necessary to sell, but a new owner would be in a great position to take full advantage of the investments made and build on the trade and reputation the hotel already enjoys.”
