Giardino, Kempinski Hotel Corvinus’ fine dining restaurant, adopted iRiS Sommelier to turn their wine menu digital. The application was installed onto iPads in October 2011 and allows Giardino to present their wine cellar in an exciting, informative and impressive way.
iRiS Sommelier means diners no longer need to trawl through the heavy, leather-bound, wine menu; they can browse the list in their preferred language, enticed by stunning images and detailed descriptions of the wines and regions. Searching by grape variety, food pairing and regional preference to find the perfect wine is simple. Additional information such as tasting notes, aromas and other characteristics are all available at the touch of a finger.
Kempinski Hotel Corvinus, the first hotel in Hungary to install the iRiS Sommelier, has reported that sales over the first four months have bettered the previous year by:
- 46% increase in wine sales per cover
- 111% increase in premium wines sold
- A 11 to 1 ROI
"We are always striving for innovation and looking for ways to further enhance our guest experience. Presenting our wines on the iPad has brought our wine cellar to life and the feedback from our guests has been excellent. It was of the utmost importance for us to enhance the interaction with our guests instead of replacing it by technology, which is working out fantastically. The iPad allows our sommelier to engage with our patrons on a whole new level and instead of choosing your favourite or best suitable wine being a hassle, it has become a fun thing to do for wine newcomers, explorers and connoisseurs alike," said Zoltan Tóth, F&B service manager at the Kempinski Hotel Corvinus.
