Hotel Internet Services (HIS) has installed the BeyondTV GuestCast at the Cedar House Sport Hotel.

HIS is a full-service internet services and solutions provider.

Located near Lake Tahoe, Cedar House Sport Hotel offers its guests convenient access to a range of outdoor activities such as hiking and skiing.

The hotel has recognised a demand for modern in-room entertainment and GuestCast’s advanced and fully secure casting abilities offered a perfect solution.

The Cedar Hotel has decided to remove its video-on-demand service due to a lack of guest interest. For this reason, the hotel’s management was exploring alternative solutions that could deliver a high level of content personalisation.

Ultimately, the hotel opted against the implementation of smart television due to the lack of privacy controls and risk of guests forgetting to erase personal login information. The Cedar hotel has selected BeyondTV GuestCast instead as a cost-effective, secure and straightforward content casting platform.

With BeyondTV GuestCast, hotel guests can instantly cast their content to guestroom televisions from personal computers, iOS or Android-based devices.

Compatible with more than 1,000 mobile-based apps, the system also protects sensitive guest data due to its device isolation capabilities that prevent cross-room communication.

Cedar House Sport Hotel owner and director Patty Baird said: “Consumer entertainment technology is evolving so rapidly that we are fast approaching a time where guests will consider a hotel’s lack of content casting abilities to be a considerable negative factor versus finding the availability of such functionality to be a pleasant surprise.

“Since implementing BeyondTV GuestCast, we have barely encountered any in-room entertainment issues, as the platform mirrors the quality and ease-of-use that guests are accustomed to when at home, yet is straightforward for us to set up and manage, thanks to its ability to operate on virtually any television model or internet network.

“Our decision to implement BeyondTV GuestCast is also due to the solution, offering the option of adding subsequent guest convenience enhancing features and services, should the need later arise.”

Approximately half of the property’s guestrooms were using GuestCast within the first week of implementation. This demonstrates the hotel management’s fast response to the rising demand for casting functionality.

Recently, HIS conducted a guest survey and 64% of the respondents expressed a preference for casting their own content from personal devices versus using a hotel’s video-on-demand service.
