US-based real-estate developer Crawford Hoying in partnership with Shaner Hotel Group has acquired Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton in Ohio, from Marriott International.

The 120-key hotel is located in downtown Hamilton, near Marcum Park with several options for dining, retail, and entertainment.

The hotel offers more than 5,800ft² of event space across three event rooms and additional breakout rooms.

Guests at the Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton can also benefit from a 24/7 fitness centre and an indoor heated swimming pool.

Crawford Hoying commercial real estate executive vice-president Matt Starr said: “We could not be more excited about the acquisition of this asset and furthering our long-term commitment to the City of Hamilton.

“For the City of Hamilton, this represents the beginning of a new chapter. The community came together to acquire and re-flag the hotel nearly 15 years ago, and Crawford Hoying will now make a significant investment in the property to re-establish the hotel’s presence in the marketplace.”

The Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton is situated near Crawford Hoying’s recently announced 17-acre mixed-use development at the Cohen Recycling site.

This development will feature multifamily, retail and office spaces, along with another hotel in partnership with Shaner.

This is the company’s second hotel purchase in collaboration with Shaner in the last five months, bringing the total number of hotels in its expanding portfolio to 15.

Shaner Hotels president Plato Ghinos said: “We are thrilled to add this acquisition to our continued partnership with Crawford Hoying.

“We continue to look for additional opportunities to acquire quality properties that complement our current portfolio of 70+ hotels.”

Last September, Crawford Hoying in partnership with Shaner acquired Homewood Suites Columbus OSU By Hilton, in Columbus, Ohio.

It was the 14th hotel in Crawford Hoying’s portfolio and is located in the upper Arlington area of Columbus.

The hotel offers 725ft² of event space, a meeting area, an indoor pool and fitness facilities.

In October 2022, Crawford Hoying also partnered with Cameron Mitchell Restaurants for the development of an upscale boutique hotel in Dublin, Ohio.

This property is expected to include a new signature CMR restaurant, various food and beverage options, multiple outdoor spaces, and an event and conference centre.
