Taj, a brand of Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), has planned to open a new hotel in Ahmedabad in the Indian state of Gujarat.

The hotel, named Taj Skyline, will comprise over 18 storeys.

IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “With Taj Skyline, IHCL’s marquee brand, Taj, steps into Ahmedabad, which is an extremely important industrial and economic hub in India.

“This further strengthens our aim to be present at all significant business locations across the country. We look forward to extending our unparalleled service ethos, which has defined us for over a century, to the city of Ahmedabad.”

The hotel is said to be at a driving distance from the commercial centres, airport and Gandhinagar, which is the state capital.

The 315-room hotel will offer views of the city’s skyline and the design is said to be inspired from the local design and culture.

It will offer its all-day diner, Shamiana, which is currently offered in Mumbai and Dubai.

Additionally, it will provide pan Asian cuisine at Nonya, while the Emperor’s Lounge will provide international and local comfort food.

The hotel will feature banqueting and conferencing spaces as well as breakaway rooms, which can be used for events and weddings.

Guests can also use the Jiva Spa and an indoor swimming pool, which will be temperature-controlled.
