IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of a new InterContinental hotel in Saudi Arabia in partnership with Riva Development Company.

The new build property, InterContinental Riyadh King Fahed Road, will open its doors to guests in March 2025.

This development is the second hotel to be signed under the Master Development Agreement (MDA) between IHG and RIVA via its wholly owned subsidiary RIVA Hospitality for Hotel Services Company.

Signed in May this year, the five-year MDA will see the opening of at least seven hotels in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia across IHG’s portfolio of brands.

Hotel Indigo Riyadh King Abdallah Road is the first hotel to be signed under the agreement.

InterContinental Riyadh King Fahed Road will feature 250 guest rooms and 150-unit apartments as part of InterContinental Residences.

The hotel will also offer other guest amenities such as a pool, fitness centre, a spa and five dining options offering a wide selection of culinary delights.

Additionally, InterContinental Riyadh King Fahed Road will provide a business centre, 784m2 of meeting and events space as well as a 600m2 ballroom.

IHG India, Middle East & Africa managing director Haitham Mattar said: “As part of our continued growth strategy, and in line with the Saudi Tourism Development Strategy, we are proud to partner with RIVA Development Company as we expand our presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“IHG has a strong and credible reputation in the luxury segment through the iconic InterContinental brand which has enjoyed great success in Saudi Arabia over the last four decades.

“InterContinental Riyadh King Fahed Road will be a brand defining property and will offer guests exceptional experiences immersed in local hospitality and international service excellence.”

In Saudi Arabia, IHG operates 38 hotels across five brands with additional 20 hotels expected to open in the coming three to five years. Currently, it has nine operating InterContinental hotels in the Kingdom.

Last month, IHG signed a management agreement with developer ASRE to bring its upscale hotel brand voco to Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.
