IHG Hotels & Resorts has revealed plans to open the second Kimpton hotel in Koh Samui, Thailand later this year.
Kimpton Koh Samui is a 138-room luxury boutique hotel located at Choengmon Beach. It marks the expansion of the Kimpton brand in South East Asia.
The new hotel will offer luxury pool villas with direct access to the beach, four distinctive restaurants and bars, a spa, a fitness centre and a Kids Club.
There is also a 124m2 multi-purpose meetings and events space.
IHG South East Asia and Korea development vice-president Serena Lim said: “We are excited to continue our long-standing partnership with NYE Estate whom we share a common vision of elevating and growing the hospitality sector in Thailand, as well as new partners Multiply Partners and Capstone Asset to bring Kimpton’s heartfelt approach to hospitality to Koh Samui as we continue to expand the brand across the region as well as globally.
“The strength of IHG’s brand portfolio has led to some exciting growth opportunities here in Thailand and this signing is a great example of that.
“There’s an appetite from owners to join the IHG family of brands and benefit from the power of our enterprise, as the strength and resilience of our brands come to the fore in the current environment.”
The first property in Thailand, Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, was launched in October last year. It has 362 rooms and suites, including 131 serviced residences.
The brand also has presence in Taipei and Japan with planned openings in Bali, Suzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Nanjing, Sanya and Kuala Lumpur.
Earlier this month, IHG signed a conversion deal to open or refurbish three properties in Appi Kogen, Japan.
Kimpton brand will also expand to international markets including Germany, Mexico and the Netherlands.
