IHG Hotels & Resorts’ upscale hotel brand voco has opened its first new-build and flagship property in Melbourne, Australia.

Located at 374 Lonsdale Street, Voco Melbourne Central hotel is part of the new 380 Melbourne skyscraper.

The hotel has been designed by local architects, Elenberg Fraser in conjunction with Suede Interior Design.

It is within walking distance from major retail hubs including Emporium, Bourke Street Mall and Melbourne Central.

Voco Melbourne Central general manager Erik Stuebe said: “We have taken the voco vision to interweave these hotels into the fabric of the city; we’ve really made that part of our DNA in everything we do at voco Melbourne Central.

“From the moment our guests enter the striking Sky Lobby on the sixth floor, they will feel like they are in an exciting urban enclave.

The hotel features 252 guestrooms that have bedding made from 100% recycled materials, openable windows and other aspects that make stays more sustainable and help reduce the impact on environment.

Dining venues include Blacksmith Brasserie & Bar, which serves lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday and breakfast every day.

Blacksmith Brasserie’s à la carte, which is led by award-winning South Korean Executive Chef Ian Lee, caters classic dishes including beef brisket tacos, barramundi parcel and others.

Voco Melbourne Central also boasts eight event spaces located across three floors and can accommodate up to 90 people.

The 493m2 spaces has options for pool terrace, boardroom, medium event and a flexible 3-in-1 space with breakout rooms.

Other amenities offered in the hotel include fast and free Wi-Fi, TVs, rooftop plunge pool and 24/7 gym.

Earlier this year, the brand debuted in Germany with the opening of voco Dusseldorf Seestern in the Lörick district of Dusseldorf.
