Hotel Indigo, a boutique lifestyle brand of IHG Hotels & Resorts, has debuted in New Zealand with a new property in Midtown Auckland.

This launch, which marks the fifth Hotel Indigo in Australasia, will cater to both visitors and locals.

IHG Hotels & Resorts Australasia and Pacific managing director Matt Tripolone said: “Hotel Indigo is one of the world’s leading boutique lifestyle brands, and we are excited to see its New Zealand debut in Auckland as we continue to grow IHG’s portfolio of exceptional luxury & lifestyle stay experiences in the region.

“This marks the fifth Hotel Indigo in Australasia, and we congratulate our partners at Ninety-Four Feet on this landmark development.”

The hotel stands on a site where a 1912 motor house once imported Cadillacs into New Zealand.

Hotel Indigo Auckland’s design pays homage to this motoring heritage, with each of its 225 rooms, including ten accessible rooms, offering automotive-inspired aesthetics. The 27 floors of the hotel span a 41-storey tower

The rooms feature rear-view mirrors positioned above king-size beds, open wardrobes with an industrial aesthetic, lighting reminiscent of headlamps, pegboard shelving, and upholstery similar to car interiors.

Hotel Indigo Auckland general manager Mathew Simister said: “We are thrilled to open New Zealand’s first neighbourhood-inspired Hotel Indigo in midtown Auckland. This boutique brand is deeply connected to the local community, and we’ve proudly woven Auckland’s rich history, art, and culture into every aspect of the hotel.

“From our uniquely designed guest rooms to our signature dining experience at Bistro Saine, we can’t wait for guests to experience everything we have carefully curated to connect them with the neighbourhood.”

The hotel’s location on Albert Street in Midtown, one of Auckland’s tallest buildings, offers guests views of the city skyline and harbour through floor-to-ceiling windows.

New Zealand contemporary artist and photographer Stuart Robertson has curated a photographic exhibition across all 25 accommodation floors.

Stylist Simone Haag has adorned the lobby with local artistry while multidisciplinary artist Raukura Turei has created installations using natural elements.

The hotel’s culinary offerings encompass Bistro Saine, a French-Mediterranean restaurant; Café Etiquette, serving guests as both café and wine bar; and The Henry, a cocktail lounge with an atmosphere reminiscent of venues in New York, London, and Paris.

Hotel Indigo Auckland is located near key landmarks such as the Sky Tower, SkyCity Casino, Wynyard Quarter, and the Viaduct.

In May 2022, IHG’s upscale hotel brand voco made its Auckland debut with voco Auckland City Centre, featuring 201 guest rooms and suites, further expanding IHG’s presence in New Zealand.
