Marriott International’s Le Méridien brand has made its debut in the Maldives with the opening of Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa.

The announcement was made along with Singaporean developer Chiu Teng Enterprises.

Located in Lhaviyani Atoll on Thilamaafushi Island, Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa features 141 ocean viewing villas.

The villas are available in one, two and three-bedroom formats, and offer an Explore Spa by Le Méridien and the two infinity pools.

The resort boasts dining venues that include the signature restaurant Tabemasu; an adults only bar, Riviera; Waves Café, Velaa Bar + Grill, The Le Méridien Hub and a beachside marketplace Turquoise.

Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa also features Le Méridien Family and Kids’ Hub, which offers programmes such as day and night nature trails, folklore storytelling and sustainable art classes.

In addition, the resort has a Marine Hub for nature conservationists. It hosts a range of conservation programmes including mangrove and seagrass protection and turtle identification.

Marriott International Asia Pacific (excluding China) president Rajeev Menon said: “We are thrilled to introduce the iconic Le Méridien brand to the Maldives, strengthening our presence in this captivating destination.

“The opening of Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa marks the second Marriott International property that opened in the Maldives this summer and the seventh brand entry in the destination. We look forward to expanding our portfolio further in the Maldives in order to offer distinctive and personalised experiences for travellers.”

Furthermore, the resort is accessible via a 35-minute seaplane journey north of Velana (MLE) International Airport, Malé.

Last year, Pivot Hotels & Resorts was selected to manage the Le Méridien Houston Downtown in Texas, US.
