Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark is located in the SouthPark neighbourhood of Charlotte, North Carolina, US. The hotel has been newly redesigned and has incorporated eco-friendly elements reduce its carbon footprint. The entire hotel a smoke-free environment. The renovated hotel opened in February 2009.
The hotel showcases a mix of southern and European styles. Previously called The Park, Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark has 262 rooms, two suites and 8,775ft² of meeting space. Free on-site parking is available. The hotel is owned by South Park Real Estate LLC, a subsidiary of JWM Family Enterprises LP.
The Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark has been designed and developed as a green hotel. The décor includes grass patterns on the carpets, doors and elevators.
The floors of the fitness centre are made from recycled rubber tyres and the hotel includes floor-to-ceiling artwork made from recycled water bottles. The fitness centre also provides drinking water that can be poured from pitchers instead of disposable plastic bottles. The hotel’s swimming pool uses salt instead of chlorinated water.
The hotel’s meeting rooms feature energy-efficient lighting and a computer-controlled climate to prevent energy waste. The meeting rooms offer abundant natural light to reduce the use of artificial lighting. The hotel does not use linens on tables, reducing the amount of water used for laundry. Organic food is available for guests.
Rooms and suites at Charlotte SouthPark feature vibrant, warm colours to complement the eco-friendly theme. Guest rooms include king / double beds, writing desks with ergonomic chairs and marble bathrooms. The 300ft² club-level guest rooms include king beds.
The club-level suite is a two-room suite with one bedroom. The 400ft² presidential suite has a king-size bed.
All rooms and suites are furnished with bedding, custom duvets, down comforters and thick mattresses with mattress toppers. Amenities include individual climate control, coffee / tea makers, irons and ironing boards, hair-dryers, mini refrigerators, 37″ LCD televisions, iPod alarm clocks with docks, plug-in panels, in-room safes and phones.
The club-level suite features a sofa, clock radio, chair and work desk with ergonomic chair. Roll-away beds and cribs are not permitted in the club-level suite. The presidential suite features lounge access, separate living and dining areas with a six-seat dining table and two TV sets. Two roll-away beds and cribs are permitted in the presidential suite.
The Fountain Grille, located off the hotel atrium, serves US fare and is open for all meals of the day. The Lobby Lounge serves dinner and drinks.
Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark has 14 meeting rooms. The largest is Outdoor Courtyard, which has an area of 4,096ft2 and can accommodate 300 people.
The other two meeting rooms are the Queens Court Ballroom and Cotillion Ballroom, each of which can accommodate 300 people. The meeting rooms are equipped with computers, printers, film projectors overhead projectors, video cameras, microphones and polling devices.
The hotel’s meeting rooms are ideal for business meetings, social events and launches. The hotel also provides wedding organisers for couples who marry in one of Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark’s ballrooms.
The hotel’s newly renovated 24-hour fitness centre covers a 1,100ft² area. It features free weights and cardiovascular equipment that includes treadmills and stationary bikes. Each piece of cardio equipment has an individual screen and iPod docking / charging station. The hotel also has an indoor saltwater swimming pool and dry sauna.
