Baglioni Hotel London has become the first five-star luxury London hotel to adopt the iRiS Sommelier. The hotel’s Brunello Restaurant, the first concept restaurant in the Baglioni group, has around 500 wine labels including a precious vertical collection of Sassiciaia wines. These will now be displayed brilliantly on iPads for diners to choose from, turning their existing wine menu digital.

The application has been placed onto iPads allowing Brunello Restaurant to present their wine cellar on a modern, clear, enticing and informative platform. This enables the hotel’s discerning clientele to view as much or as little information as they require.

The design, look and feel is bespoke for Brunello Restaurant, and diners view stunning images, read relevant tasting notes, and can choose by grape variety, colour, regional preference and even by bottle or glass. All this information and more is available at the diners’ fingertips, quite literally.

Removing the printing costs, it is easy to manage and maintain, with updates done in an instant. Never again will the Sommelier or waiter have to advise a particular label has just sold out. The popular ‘Sommelier Recommendations’ section enables the restaurant to offer a tempting choice of their favourite labels, ensuring diners have this immediately available, particularly helpful if they are not wine connoisseurs.

The iRiS Sommelier’s handy ‘shortlist’ enables diners who are undecided to select a few wines, and then discuss these with the restaurant’s waiting staff in person.

This innovative move to a digital F&B menu fits with the hotel’s environmental policy, allows the restaurant to be pro-active, increase sales, reduce costs, and provide an exciting and memorable experience for diners.

"The iRiS Sommelier allows our Brunello Restaurant to embrace modern technology, bring our wine list to life and offer an interesting wine selection process for our diners. We are very excited and guests of the hotel are already talking about it," commented Fabrizio Presta, F&B manager of Baglioni Hotel, London.
