Canada’s travel & tourism industry registered a 10.8% rise in IT hiring activity in April 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 3.47% in April 2022 when compared with March 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.22% share in April 2022, recording an increase of 0.12% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 101.25% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry in April 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 81.25% in April 2022, registering a 47.73% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 7.5% share, an increase of 20% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 6.25%, registering a 16.67% decline from March 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 3.75%, down 62.5% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 90.63% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry during April 2022 over March 2022.

Uber Technologies posted 16 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Canadian Pacific Railway with 15 jobs and an 11.76% drop. Sonder with 11 IT jobs and Booking Holdings with 10 jobs, recorded a 1000% growth and a 233.33% growth, respectively, while Flight Centre Travel Group recorded a decline of 18.18% with 9 job postings during April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.75%, up by 6.25% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.75% share, registered an increase of 18.75% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.25% share, up 80% over March 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.25%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
