The UK’s travel & tourism industry registered a 7.1% drop in IT hiring activity in April 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 24.89% in April 2022 when compared with March 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.92% share in April 2022, recording a decrease of 1.63% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.15% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry in April 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 69.23% in April 2022, registering a 14.08% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 17.09% share, an increase of 53.85% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 6.84%, registering a 50% decline from March 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 3.42%, down 33.33% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 47.92% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry during April 2022 over March 2022.

Booking Holdings posted 24 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a rise of 1100% over the previous month, followed by Expedia Group with 14 jobs and a 55.56% growth. Caesars Entertainment with 13 IT jobs and easyJet with 10 jobs, recorded a 38.1% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while TripAdvisor recorded an increase of 66.67% with 10 job postings during April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.38%, down by 10.11% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.79% share, registered an increase of 61.11% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.98% share, down 46.15% over March 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.85%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
