
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, a Thailand-based hotel and spa management company, is set to enter the European hospitality market with the launch of its first resort in Portugal.
Six Senses Douro Valley is currently undergoing a refurbishment by Clodagh Design and is scheduled for launch in mid-2015.
Located in the UNESCO World Heritage area of the Douro Valley, the new resort is strategically placed 33km from Vila Real Airport and 142km from Porto International Airport.
Developed over an area of 19 acres, the Douro Valley resort houses 71 guest rooms and suites.
The 12th property of the Six Senses portfolio also features an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant and a wine academy.
The Six Senses Spa occupies nearly 24,000ft² with ten treatments rooms, offering Six Senses speciality treatments and multi-day programmes.
Other amenities include a heated indoor pool with water jets, a heated outdoor pool and bar, and a gym with the latest exercise equipment and professional guidance, plus a tennis court and a library.
