White Lodging and Host Hotels & Resorts have broken ground for a new Hyatt Place hotel in downtown Nashville, US.

The 13-storey, 255-room Hyatt Place Nashville/Downtown hotel, which is White Lodging’s second hotel in Nashville, is expected to open in late 2013.

The hotel will be owned by affiliates of Host Hotels & Resorts and White Lodging.

White Lodging said it will develop and manage the Hyatt Place Nashville/Downtown.

Designed by PFVS Architects, the hotel will include 3,600ft² of meeting space and a 175-space parking garage, a lobby that will include the Hyatt Place brand’s food and beverage options, including The Gallery, a bar serving wine, beer, spirits and coffee.

The hotel will complement the construction of Nashville’s new convention centre Music City Center, which is slated to open in 2013.

Along with the convention centre, Hyatt Place Nashville/Downtown guests will have easy access to the newly expanded Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts real estate and development vice president Brett Lasher, commenting on the development, said: “With all of the current growth in downtown Nashville, the Hyatt Place is the perfect brand to meet the needs of both business and leisure travellers in this market.”

All rooms of the Hyatt Place Nashville/Downtown will be 20% larger than the average hotel room, and decorated in Hyatt’s signature décor.

US-based hotel ownership, development and operations company White Lodging Services’ current portfolio consists of more than 158 hotels in 20 states.

Host Hotels & Resorts is a lodging real estate investment trust which owns luxury and upper-upscale hotels.
