Asia-Pacific witnessed a 6.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
March 2022 has seen an increase of 1.22% in the overall hiring activity when compared with February 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 6.53% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in March 2022, registering an increase of 0.44% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in March 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 71.97% in March 2022, a 23.04% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 10.67% in March 2022, marking a 13.33% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 9% in March 2022, a 35.82% drop from February 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 4.81% in March 2022, a 34.29% decline over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 50.9% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during March 2022 over previous month.
The Walt Disney posted 63 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a decline of 69.27% over the previous month. A.P. Moller – Maersk with 62 IT jobs and Booking Holdings with 45 jobs, recorded a 20.51% drop and a 26.23% drop, respectively, while Genting Group recorded a 355.56% increase with 41 job postings during March 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 36.82% share in March 2022, a 41.33% decrease over February 2022. Malaysia featured next with a 14.02% share, up 204.55% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 10.46% share, a flat growth compared with February 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.67%, down by 19.17% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.15% share, registered a decline of 43.45% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.97% share, down 6.06% over February 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.21%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
