Hong Kong (China SAR)’s travel & tourism industry registered an 8.1% drop in IT hiring activity in April 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 3.75% in April 2022 when compared with March 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.72% share in April 2022, recording an increase of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 104.35% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Hong Kong (China SAR)’s travel & tourism industry in April 2022.

1) Database and Network Administrators and Architects recorded a share of 43.48% in April 2022, registering a 42.86% growth over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 26.09% share, a decrease of 40% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 21.74%, registering a 66.67% rise from March 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 13.04%, down 25% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Hong Kong (China SAR)’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Hong Kong (China SAR)’s travel & tourism industry during April 2022 over March 2022.

MTR posted 12 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a rise of 50% over the previous month, followed by Cathay Pacific Airways with 8 jobs and a 38.46% drop. A.P. Moller – Maersk with 2 IT jobs and Galaxy Entertainment Group with 1 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.57% growth from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.39% share, registered a decline of 33.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.04% share, up 50% over March 2022.
