India’s travel & tourism industry registered a 5.5% rise in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 2.18% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 14.55% share in May 2022, recording a decrease of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.49% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry in May 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 72.82% in May 2022, registering a 61.36% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 8.72% share, an increase of 54.55% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 8.72%, registering a 325% rise from April 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 7.69%, up 114.29% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 66.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry during May 2022 over April 2022.

Uber Technologies posted 49 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a rise of 113.04% over the previous month, followed by A.P. Moller – Maersk with 42 jobs and an 82.61% growth. The Walt Disney with 29 IT jobs and Expedia Group with 27 jobs, recorded a 61.11% growth and a 10% decrease, respectively, while Booking Holdings recorded an increase of 550% with 13 job postings during May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.13%, up by 56.79% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.59% share, registered an increase of 84% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.28% share, up 175% over April 2022.
