India’s travel & tourism industry registered an 8.1% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 2.31% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.51% share in October 2021, recording a decrease of 1.46% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.04% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry in October 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 74.16% in October 2021, registering a 9.88% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 11.96% share, an increase of 13.64% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 8.13%, registering a 15% decline from September 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 2.87%, down 25% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 4.68% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

Expedia Group posted 87 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 16% over the previous month, followed by A.P. Moller – Maersk with 50 jobs and a 36.71% drop. DSV with 10 IT jobs and Swiss Federal Railways with 8 jobs, recorded a 42.86% growth and a 300% growth, respectively, while AirAsia Group recorded a flat growth with 8 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.16%, down by 2.94% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 21.53% share, registered a decline of 31.82% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 15.31% share, up 6.67% over September 2021.
