IT jobs accounted for a 2% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 53.66% in May 2022, a 57.14% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 14.63% in May 2022, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 12.2% in May 2022, a flat growth from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 84.21% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s travel & tourism industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Uber Technologies posted 18 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 100% over the previous month, followed by The Emirates Group with 8 jobs and a flat growth. Qatar Airways Group QCSC with 5 IT jobs and A.P. Moller – Maersk with 2 jobs, recorded a 28.57% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while Booking Holdings recorded a 33.33% decline with 2 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s travel & tourism industry
United Arab Emirates commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 31.71% share in May 2022, a flat growth over April 2022. Egypt featured next with a 29.27% share, up 1100% over the previous month. Qatar recorded a 12.2% share, a drop of 28.57% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.29%, up by 64.71% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.51% share, registered a decline of 27.27% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.2% share, up 400% over April 2022.
