May 2022 has seen an increase of 3.13% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.44% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 57.92% in May 2022, a 3.37% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 19.66% in May 2022, marking a 39.34% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 9.35% in May 2022, a 57.14% rise from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 21.04% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s travel & tourism industry during May 2022 over previous month.
The Walt Disney posted 190 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 2.7% over the previous month, followed by Uber Technologies with 81 jobs and a 47.27% growth. Enterprise Holdings with 51 IT jobs and National Railroad Passenger with 39 jobs, recorded a 50% rise and a 2.63% rise, respectively, while Hawaiian Holdings recorded a 125% increase with 36 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s travel & tourism industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 93.94% share in May 2022, a 9.7% decrease over April 2022. Canada featured next with a 4.99% share, up 6.82% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.06% share, a drop of 33.33% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.26%, down by 16.12% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.72% share, registered a growth of 2.98% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.82% share, up 2.36% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.21%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
