The US’s travel & tourism industry registered a 6.7% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 2.42% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.72% share in February 2022, recording an increase of 0.3% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.96% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s travel & tourism industry in February 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 61.97% in February 2022, registering a 33.7% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 11.5% share, an increase of 20.45% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.41%, registering a 9.09% rise from January 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.16%, down 33.56% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 25.38% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s travel & tourism industry during February 2022 over January 2022.

The Walt Disney posted 181 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a drop of 15.81% over the previous month, followed by United Parcel Service with 147 jobs and a 53.13% growth. Expedia Group with 116 IT jobs and Booking Holdings with 67 jobs, recorded a 176.19% growth and a 318.75% growth, respectively, while J.B. Hunt Transport Services recorded a decline of 27.17% with 67 job postings during February 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.44%, up by 18.27% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.14% share, registered an increase of 17.22% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.99% share, up 10.85% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.43%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
