Global hospitality company Hyatt Hotels has debuted its Thompson Hotels brand in Spain with the opening of the first property in Madrid.

Thompson Madrid is housed in two historic buildings and is within walking distance from the Malasaña, Chueca, and Madrid’s historic city centre.

Located on Calle De La Montera, the new hotel has 175 rooms and suites including a signature penthouse suite featuring spacious living and dining areas.

The hotel’s interior, designed by Madrid-based López y Tena, LYTA Interior Design & Arquitecture Studio, reflects the city’s sights, sounds and flavours.

Thompson Madrid boasts three signature dining venues including an all-day bakery and bistro, The Omar, catering sample artisanal patisserie and seasonal, light bites and Thompson Madrid Rooftop serving authentic cuisine and carefully crafted cocktails.

This autumn, the hotel will welcome Hijos de Tomás, an upscale bar offering an inventive cocktail menu.

The hotel has six event spaces that can accommodate up to 321 guests, an outdoor infinity pool featuring a hydromassage system, an open-air courtyard, a 24-hour boutique fitness centre.

Thompson Madrid general manager Carlos Erburu Zazpe said: “We are excited to welcome guests to Thompson Madrid and invite them to immerse themselves into the culture of the city, which can be found inside and outside the walls of the hotel.

“Inspired by Madrid’s nearby “kilometre Zero,” which marks the spot all distances in Spain are measured from, all journeys start in Madrid and all authentic Madrilenian experiences for our guests begin in Thompson Madrid.”

The hotel is the third Hyatt-branded hotel in Madrid after Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid and Hyatt Regency Hesperia Madrid.

Hyatt will open Thompson Vienna, its second Thompson Hotels branded property in Europe, in 2024.

Last month, Hyatt debuted its Grand Hyatt property in Gurgaon, Delhi NCR with the opening of Grand Hyatt Gurgaon.
