InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is bringing voco hotels to Mexico with the brand’s first two properties to open in Guadalajara and Saltillo.
The Guadalajara Neruda hotel is expected to open later this year, while the Saltillo property will open next year.
Guadalajara’s voco hotel will run under the ownership of Vertex Ophthalmic Group.
Located within the city’s financial district, the hotel will occupy five floors out of the 11-storey Neruda 2828 mixed-use development.
The hotel will have 104 guest rooms along with other amenities including a fitness centre, rooftop terrace, a bar, a neighbourhood restaurant, and a business centre.
Vertex Ophthalmic Group chief operating officer (COO) Jorge Celis said: “The new voco hotel is an ideal fit for the Guadalajara Neruda complex, which will bring a modern vibe and a host of professional, commercial and leisure visitors to the area.
“We are honoured to open Mexico’s first voco hotel in Guadalajara and offer our guests a high-quality, special and memorable experience.”
Meanwhile, the second hotel in Saltillo will be developed and owned by the American Hotels Group.
The 125-suite property will be in Saltillo’s manufacturing and automotive district, near the American Sports Centre recreation complex.
The hotel will feature a fitness centre, an indoor pool, a bar, a restaurant and around 700ft² of meeting space.
American Hotels Group general director Juan Carlos Saade said: “Whether visiting for business or recreation, guests of voco Saltillo will enjoy a unique blend of the familiar feels of home and the curiosity and potential for discovery of the area.
“We look forward to working with the IHG team to open and grow this hotel.”
Currently, IHG operates 31 voco upscale brand hotels across the globe, while an additional 43 properties are in pipeline.
The company is also expected to open a joint voco and Holiday Inn project in Downtown Chicago in late 2022.
