InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and real estate developer Siamese Asset have signed a franchise agreement for Crowne Plaza Bangkok Rama 9 hotel.

Slated to open in 2025, the new hotel will be located near Bangkok’s new central business district. It will feature space for work, meeting or to socialise called the Plaza Workspace.

IHG noted that the new hotel will follow its Way of Clean and offer the IHG Clean Promise.

Specifically, it will be situated in a mixed-use development Siamese Rama 9, which will also include high-end apartments, office space and a mall.

This franchise agreement represents the first for IHG in Thailand and boosts its relationship with franchisee and long-term partner Kew Green.

Kew Green has formed a joint venture with Siamese Asset to support the realisation of this project.

IHG, South East Asia & Korea Development VP Serena Lim said: “This project is the first of its type for IHG in Thailand and made possible by working with Siamese and Kew Green, who bring together the expertise of one of our long-term partners, Kew Green, and local real estate experts, Siamese Asset.

“This deal demonstrates that IHG is nimble and flexible, and that we are changing with the times as well as expanding our long-term partnerships across borders.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Siamese and Kew Green to bring the Crowne Plaza brand to this central location in Thailand’s capital.”

In Thailand, IHG has 31 hotels that operate under seven brands, namely Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Six Senses, Holiday Inn Express, InterContinental, Holiday Inn, and Staybridge Suites.

It also has 30 more properties in the pipeline, including Kimpton and voco brand entries.

Last month, IHG prepared to debut its boutique upscale brand Hotel Indigo in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
