Choice Hotels International, a US-based hospitality group, has signed a development agreement with Boli Hotel Management Company to launch the first Clarion and Quality hotels in China.
The first hotel under the deal will open in the city of Hangzhou, with the brand planning to scale up its presence further.
Choice Hotels’ International Division senior vice president Mark Pearce said that with several Comfort Inn hotels already performing well in China, it is a natural step to introduce other Choice Hotels brands to the region.
"Our partnership with Boli Hotel Management Company is a significant milestone not only because it marks the launch of our development efforts for Clarion and Quality hotels in China, but because it represents the opportunity for local developers to partner with an international hotel company," Pearce added.
Choice Hotels franchises more than 6,300 hotels in the US and more than 35 other countries and territories.
It also owns other brands including Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn, Cambria Suites, Mainstay Suites, Suburban Extended Stay, Econo Lodge, Rodeway Inn, and Ascend Collection.
