Starwood’s SH Group has opened 1 Hotel Central Park, which is its first property in New York and the second for the brand.
The hotel was developed by SH Group CEO Barry Sternlicht, who aims to develop a socially and environmentally conscious platform that celebrates and preserves nature.
The hotel is located at the corner of 58th Street and Sixth Avenue, which is one block south from New York’s largest green space.
It features 229 guest rooms, which includes 22 suites and one Greenhouse suite that is equipped with modern day amenities with a natural touch such as cotton towels, robes, socks, linens and yoga mats.
Guests will also get a goodie bag on arrival that will consist of seasonally inspired snacks.
The interior of the hotel is designed using woods, bricks, marble, stone and glass that have been bought from local suppliers and mixed with steel beams and concrete ceilings.
1 Hotel Central Park welcomes guests through two large steel doors that feature 16,000 fallen twigs artfully embedded into them.
The hotel adopted a paperless approach. Guests will get access to an in-room Nexus device pre-loaded with newspapers, magazines and the 1 Guide and the 1 Hotels app that can control all aspects of the room.
Guests will also be entitled to high-speed Wi-Fi, 24-hour in-room dining, and access to Tesla premium electric vehicle rides.
Guests can enjoy their meals at a 100-seat restaurant and bar named Jams, and have 24-hour access to the Field House, a fitness centre on the second floor.
Sternlicht said: "1 Hotels started from a simple belief: those who travel the world, care about it.
"I’m proud to debut this mission-driven brand in New York City with 1 Hotel Central Park and look forward to delivering guests the best design, service and amenities just 100 steps south of Central Park."
