InterContinental Hotels Group has announced it will be converting the Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa in France into InterContinental Bordeaux Le Grand Hotel.
The hotel group signed a management agreement with French real estate company Financière Immobilière Bordelaise to look after the property, which would be its sixth in the country.
Dating back to 1776, the 130-room hotel will undergo a transformation before it is brought under the umbrella of InterContinental.
It will include the fine dining restaurant Le Pressoir D’Argent, with the entire food and beverage offering of the hotel to be overseen by the Gordon Ramsay Group.
The hotel will also feature seven meeting rooms, an indoor pool, fitness spa and hammam facilities.
With its new French property, InterContinental aims to cater to both business and leisure guests travelling to the city. The hotel is located on Place de la Comédie, Bordeaux’s central square, which is central and surrounded by some of Bordeaux’s finest shops and restaurants.
IHG Europe vice-president of development Philippe Bijaoui said: "InterContinental Bordeaux Le Grand Hotel will offer guests a luxury hotel stay in a sought-after location.
"This iconic brand is going from strength to strength in France and this new hotel will further enhance the momentum behind the brand’s growth in Europe."
InterContinental Bordeaux Le Grand Hotel is set to open later this year.
