InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has expanded its presence in Europe with the opening of a new Crowne Plaza hotel in Barcelona, Spain.

The new Crowne Plaza Barcelona – Fira Center has been launched under a franchise agreement with Hotel Fira and represents the first Crowne Plaza property in the region.

Located at the city centre between the Plaza de España Square and Gran Via Avenue, the hotel is close to the Fira Barcelona Convention Center.

Situated in close proximity to the new Las Arenas shopping mall, the property is said to offer easy access to the cultural spaces of Barcelona, such as the Catalonia’s National Museum Art (MNAC), the Olympic Stadium/Palau St.Jordi and the harbour.

Crowne Plaza Barcelona – Fira Center features a piano bar which serves a variety of cocktails, while its El Mall restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine and the L’Aria restaurant features a varied menu and also hosts the daily buffet breakfast.

The property features the Sleep Advantage programme, with signature bedding, wake-up calls, designated quiet zones and aromatherapy products.

Amenities at the hotel include a 24hr business centre, 18 meeting rooms with capacities ranging from 10 to 1,200 people, executive private areas and a new Club Lounge, in addition to free premium WIFI and a 55in Smart TV in all rooms, a Nespresso machine and either a king bed or two queens.

Additionally, the hotel has a sauna, gymnasium and swimming pool.
